Florida police have thwarted an alleged kidnapping plot on singer Lana Del Rey while she was performing.
Authorities revealed they have arrested 43-year-old Michael Shawn Hunt of Riverview, Florida for attempted kidnapping with a weapon and aggravated stalking with a credible threat. He was found a few hundred feet away from the Del Rey, 32, whose real name is Elizabeth Grant, at the Amway Center with a three inch folding knife on February 2.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, police reports say they received a tip from an anonymous source that said Hunt posted “cryptic and threatening” posts on social media towards the “Summertime Sadness” singer.

“We rely on the community to call in anything suspicious. If it weren’t for that tip, authorities might have been unaware of the threat posed,” Orlando police said in a statement posted on Twitter.
While the exact details of the wording of the threats haven’t been revealed, a Facebook page believed to belong to Hunt had several posts, in which he professed his love to Del Rey and his desire to be with her soon.
“I want to see my queen on Friday and from that day forward our decisions will be as one,” Hunt wrote on January 30.
In another post, Hunt said Del Rey “knows my face in her dreams” and “she’s my always and forever to be,” alongside a picture of the Grammy-nominated artist.
One of his Facebook friends even commented: “Wow, I’m so happy for you Michael Hunt. I hope she makes you happy when you finally stalk her down and get your hands on her!”
