Eye parasites are common, and for the most part shouldn't be cause for concern.

However, this story about a woman who goes to see a doctor after she complains of having itchy eyes will shock you.

There are two species of eyelash mite that are found in humans: Demodex folliculorum and Demodex brevis.

It is estimated that more than 80% of Americans have them. According to scientists, these eye parasites have a symbiotic relationship with us.

The only time people need to seek treatment is if their eyes are inflamed, irritated or infected. Also, once there are too many mites occupying one hair follicle, it will cause the eyelash to fall out.

One woman from China let this problem go on for too long, and it's shocking she didn't pick up on it sooner.
