In 1989 Erik and Lyle Menendez were catapulted into the public eye following the gruesome murders of their wealthy parents.
Their arrest and subsequent trial captured the nation's attention in the early 90s, making the brothers infamous household names. Erik and Lyle were eventually found guilty, and both were sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.
We thought that would be the last we heard of the siblings, but we were sorely mistaken. Despite being found guilty nearly 24 years ago, Erik and Lyle have still been the central figures in popular culture, with Erik making his most recent appearance in A&E's documentary series: The Menendez Murders: Erik Tells All.
"My only hope in speaking out is that people may have a more complete understanding of the events that led up to my actions on the night of August 20th, and really a fuller picture of what really happened in my life," Erik said. "All I can hope for is that people will come to realize that the truth is not a simple, one-line explanation that many people have tried to make it out to be."
With the admittal of their heinous crimes, you'd assume it would deter the brothers from finding potential suitors. But peculiarly enough, they both found love, and one of them is speaking out.
