One of the main reasons people add a pet to their family is to boost everyone's overall happiness. Cuddling your dog releases feel-good hormones that help improve your immune system.

But now experts are warning about the potential dangers of cuddling your pet, and what they discovered is nowhere close to that 'feel-good' sensation.

The tapeworm, Echinococcus multilocularis, originates in Asia and Europe, but has slowly made its way to North America.

This parasite is normally found in rodents and other wild animals, but can also be contracted by pets, which is usually the way humans have gotten this tapeworm before. However, it's only deadly when contracted by people, in which the parasite invades the liver and spreads to the rest of the body.

Here's what you can do to prevent you and your dog from contracting this deadly parasitic worm.
